Babys First Swim Lessons

Babys First Swim Lessons

In July 2009, some of the new moms  from our local moms group and their babies started attending swim lessons at Swim Ventures in Laguna Hills, CA. The Parent-and-Me classes are held throughout the week, but our new moms group overtook the Friday & Sunday morning sessions!

In the initial stage of the lessons, the parents are taught how to make their baby get comfortable being in the water. Progressively throughout the classes, the babies start to learn how to float on their backs (with only minimal support from their parent) and hold their breath under water. In the event they fall into a pool, this is supposed to help teach them how to instinctively hold their breath & then move into a back float. It’s never too early to start educating your baby on water safety!!!

In the end, the swim lessons have been a great way for parents to connect with their babies in a different way, as well as provide a GREAT photo opportunity for grandparents & friends!

These sessions proved to be a fun & inexpensive way to entertain & teach our babies.

  1. Concerned Parent says:

As the parent of three children, I think it’s important that other parents are aware that the owner of Swim Ventures, Todd Sousa, has been arrested and is facing charges for allegedly having sex with a minor! Do you really want to promote a business where your child and other children would be in harms way around a child predator? Read it for yourself

  2. Swim Venture has changed it’s name to Atlantis Aquatics. Todd Sousa out on bail… and still the owner. (
