Lisa: On Her Own Terms

In order to understand all my future blog entries, you will need to know a little bit about how my daughter, Molly, started off her life. Thus my blogging journey starts by sharing with you about the day I gave birth to Molly.

She was due on March 25th, so when April 1st came around and still no baby, I begged my OB to get her out! I was 1 centimeter for about the entire last month of my pregnancy and when they admitted me into the hospital on April 1st, I was STILL 1 centimeter! The induction began and 7 hours later I was at 2 centimeters (come on!). Half way through my labor, they realized Molly was face up (aka ‘sunny side up’), which was causing my intense back labor and later caused concern for my OB as she was one contraction/push away from doing a c-section!!! At 2:48pm on April 2nd (22 hours from the time I was admitted to the hospital), our beautiful baby girl was born.I tell you this story to illustrate how Molly came into this world on her own terms and as you read more about my journey as a first-time mom, you’ll see how this theme continues throughout all my stories. She continues to do things on her own terms and although it brings frustration because I can’t follow any of the developmental books, I wouldn’t change her, or my journey, for anything!
