Halloween Prep
I have never been much of a Halloween person. Most people find this surprising since I was in the theatre in high school but I don’t really see the correlation between wanting to act and wanting to dress up. Anyhow, I always said that once I had children I would be more involved in Halloween. Last year, my daughter had three outfits for the three different Halloween events that we attended. I did a small amount of decorating for the holiday.
This year I started thinking about her costume in August and decided that it would be fun for me and my husband to dress up as well. However, I wanted something easy so I’ve decided that we will dress as chimney sweeps from Mary Poppins. This is simple because we will wear all black, with black newsboy caps, red scarves and a little black dirt on the face. My daughter is going to wear a black tutu with black tights, red scarf and an adorable handmade newsboy cap.
I searched for the cap on etsy.com – I figured I couldn’t go wrong and would find something terrific. I found a person called Heathers Hobbies that made makes hand crocheted clothing and accessories. The price was right and the hat looked adorable- black crochet with a small pink crochet bow. I made the purchase. I got the hat a week later and was so impressed with it!
If you haven’t checked out Etsy you definitely should look into it. Everything is homemade and they have everything for your house, family, etc.
I’ll make sure to post pics of our completed Halloween costumes once I get them done. Start the countdown to Halloween!
