We had our first doctor visit this week. My husband went with me and we decided to take Brett with us. I had my exam and she confirmed I was pregnant. Our due date was changed to be December 14th. I’m hoping that he/she comes early so that their birthday isn’t too close to Christmas. Mine is 6 days before Christmas and it was no fun as a kid. I really shouldn’t complain, my parents did a great job of making my birthday special every year. But even great parents can’t stop people from giving you the dreaded “joint birthday/Christmas” gift. Another pet peeve as a Christmas baby is having your birthday gift wrapped in Christmas or Hanukkah paper. Ok, enough kvetching!
The doctor made a joke that she never sees someone under 35 in the office pregnant with their second baby (I am 33). She also advised that we do more screening in the first trimester since I am ‘older.’ We will do all screening available to us.
I asked the doctor about some cramping I am feeling but she said that is normal. I also asked when we get to hear the heart beat. Unfortunately, we have to wait until our 10 week appointment for that. I told her I was nervous that I wasn’t feeling sick at all. She said that I should feel lucky that I wasn’t feeling sick and that it wasn’t an indication of the health of the baby.
