Lisa: Choosing When to Have Baby #2

Let me start off on saying, I am NOT pregnant. (This is for all my excited friends & family who think this post is announcing a new baby :-) )

As my mommy friends are starting to get pregnant with baby #2, I (& my husband) continue wavering on whether or not we’re ready for another baby. We’ve always talked about having our kids 2-2.5 years close in age but now that we’re nearing “game time”, we both find ourselves thinking back to the challenges we had with our daughter in her first year & questioning whether or not we can do it all AGAIN! Not to mention this time includes a toddler!

Although we LOVE our daughter to pieces, we just don’t miss waking up every two hours, the constant crying, the mood swings (my husband would say that only pertains to me, but we all know that our partners are all just as guilty in this area ;-) ), the feeding challenges, etc. I think the outstanding question in our mind is “why in the world would we want to mix things up when we’re finally feeling a sense of normalcy again!?” BUT on the other side of things, we’re not getting any younger & we see how our daughter would benefit from having another sibling….AND experiencing falling in love with a new human being all over again doesn’t sound so bad :-) .

So my question to you is, how have you made (or will you make) the decision to have another baby? Any tips out there in mommyland!?

David and I feel the same way. We wanted kids close together in age like we were with our siblings but that means getting ready for baby #2 now. We realize that maybe we’re just not ready for that. We did talk about it and decided we are at least going to wait till after our move to Colorado and are settled and we want to take a little vacation without Cameron. We realize it is more important for us to make sure we are secure in our relationship and get that time alone before expanding our family. I’m not worried about Cameron, he’s such a lover. Plus he will be 9 months older than he is when we do get pregnant and a lot can change with thesse kids in 9 months.
