Lisa: Finger Food Workshop

I recently attended a workshop called ‘Little Finger Feasts’ by Feeding Little Foodies that walks you through quick on-the-go snack ideas & how to prepare a meal for the whole family that even your baby can enjoy!

When I heard about this workshop, I jumped at the chance to hear tips & advice on how to encourage my daughter to eat healthy meals that my husband & I can also enjoy. For some reason, I have found knowing what & how to feed my daughter very overwhelming. It seems self-explanatory, but I know this is a BIG deal. The way we feed our daughter now will shape and mold the type of eater she is for the rest of her life!

Here are a couple of the tips we received from the workshop:

  • Snacks are just as important, if not more, than meals. Your child’s snacks should provide the nutritional value they aren’t getting from their meals.

  • You CAN feed your baby what the whole family is having for dinner! Sounds simple, but for some reason I just couldn’t make the move from making a separate meal for my daughter to feeding her exactly what we are having.

  • Don’t assume your baby will or won’t like a certain food AND don’t assume they can’t handle eating a certain food. For example, we’ve always struggled to get Molly to eat finger foods so we didn’t think we could get her to try couscous because it’s so fine, but she actually did really great and she liked it!

I feel more confident in knowing what & how to feed my daughter healthy meals & snacks! The recipes on Feeding Little Foodies are absolutely delicious, so make sure you give them a try!

Thank you Feeding Little Foodies for changing the world one mommy at a time!!!

  1. I had a lot of issues thinking of what to feed Odesa when it was time for finger foods as well. Now I love cooking for her. I just made her the yummiest lunch, I sauteed zucchini, mushrooms, garlic, basil and shallots and mixed it with cooked harvest grains from Trader Joe’s topped with a little olive oil & it was delish for both of us! Start to finish it only took 15 minutes with clean-up! Every meal is a new adventure!

  2. Oh that does sound yummy! The gal from Feeding Little Foodies also mainly shops at Trader Joes! Thank you for sharing!!!

I made carrots and cauliflower with thyme tonight. It was delicious! Unfortunately, Brett spit it out…
