Lisa: Growing Vocabulary
On August 2nd, our daughter turned 16 months old! Can you believe it!? I find myself truly smitten with her all over again as I see her robust & colorful personality developing more & more every day! I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, I think 12-14 months is a tough stage for kids. They want more independence, but at times they can’t do things on their own, they want to be held, but the second you hold them, they want their independence back!
We’ve finally hit the stage where she can actually be independent (w/ in reason ) and she LOVES it! She’s a happier kid!
For example, we took her to an indoor playground that has the big play tubs suspended from the ceiling. A month ago, she would have hung out in the baby area pushing the buttons & playing with the little toys. Not now! Now she wants to explore, climb up the stairs with the big kids & roam around the big play tubs. At first my husband & I got anxious as she explored the play area on her own, but she was AMAZING! What a little person she’s become!
Another thing I’m LOVING, is hearing her vocabulary grow & grow! Each day she easily adds 5-15 words to her repertoire & she does it with her Molly style! Here are things that she says that just melt my heart:
“I Lu Loo!”
“Tank You” ~ I don’t know how she knows, but she knows HOW to use this wonderfully polite phrase!
“Peas!” ~ again, another one she likes to use in the correct context!
Lisa: “Who wants chicken!?” or “Who wants to go see Gammie!?” Molly: “Me!” ~ as she does the sign for “me”
“Tickle, tickle, tickle” ~ as she comes running towards you with her little fingers ready to tickle you!
As she puts her hands over her head & exclaims “Da!” ~ which should be ‘ta-da’ (see article picture)
The list goes on & on! This stage of her development excites me about what’s to come!
Now if only we can get her to take naps again….lol….
